Write Your Own Food Philosophy

As we get older our bodies change, but so do our nutritional needs. Dietary changes are also required for someone facing an illness or changes in physical activity. Babies, teens, pregnant women, athletes, couch potatoes, diabetes, medical illnesses, mental or emotional illness, digestive disorders, food allergies, stress, thyroid disease, menopause, aging (20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and up) all require different dietary needs to support their bodies to perform optimally.

Whether your eating a clean diet, on a juice feast, gluten-free, dairy free, grain-free, protein, whole food, raw, snacks, vegan, vegetarian, paleo or another eating plan, it has to be done because it supports your overall health. A person that has severe digestive issues and needs to heal their gut, may not be able to tolerate rice or oatmeal. But, a gluten-free person can. a Vegan diet may be healing for someone during one phase of their life, but may need to change as their dietary needs change.

To stay-on track with your eating goals create your own food philosophy. This help you stay balanced and focused and can change as you grow. Here’s mine.

  • Cook with the healthiest chemical-free ingredients possible.
  • Add vegetables to everything.
  • Eat protein with every meal or snack. (the other we get, the more important this becomes)
  • Always have a healthy snack/meal ready.
  • Eat consciously (choice, portion and timing)
  • Drink water, always.
  • Share knowledge with others.
  • Be forgiving with imperfect food choices. But, don’t accept it as the norm.

What’s your personal food philosophy?
